CHILLER THEATRE - John Babcock CD
The music coming from John's CD Chiller Theatre is nothing short of wonderful and insipring. The songs, as a whole, are a blend of Beatle power, Raspberries (Eric Carman) and shades of general pop rock from the 60s and 70s. Liberty DeVitto, from Billy Joel's band, plays drums on 4 tracks and Joe Lynn Turner from Deep Purple plays on a track too. The title song has a driving relentless rythm that sends you back with images of aliens here to conquer the human race rhyming with FIEND WITHOUT A FACE! John belts out a line that he's still here awaiting RETURN OF THE FLY. The song has a long ending with a seemless, and rapid fire, montage of audio bites from films like HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN, ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN ("Harry, Harry....!"), ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE, Colin Clive from FRANKENSTEIN, Renfield's laugh in DRACULA and Lon Chaney Jr. screaming "I'll GET you Alligator Man!" It's a hoot and works so well that it gives you goosebumps EVERY listen. Songs include: Chiller Theater, No Getting Over You, Woman In The Yellow Dress, Spirits on the Loose, Heavy Traffic, Not Without You, Black Widow, Shadow Boxing, Come On and Savoyann.
