CHRISTMAS CAROL, A - (1938)
Stars Reginal Owen, Gene Lockhart, Kathleen Lockhart, Terry Kilburn and Barry McKay. My personal favorite of the various versions of Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol." Loaded with great character actors from the 1930s and 1940s. It's great seeing Sherlock Holmes series regular, Terry Kilburn, as Tiny Tim. Terry was the little boy who would help Mrs. Hudson tidy-up at Baker Street in the Rathbome series. The magic is all here. Leo G. Carrol as Marley's Ghost and a young June Lockhart as one of the Crachet girls. This version just is brimming with the warth and fantasy of the season. Also on this disc: two rare vintage Christmas featurettes - "Jackie Cooper's Christmas Party" and "Judy Garland Sings Silent Night." Also the Oscar (TM) nominated cartoon "Peace on Earth" and the Theatrical Trailer.
