One of the rarest KING KONG collectibles. The 1932 Grosset and Dunlap first edition prior to the release of the film. Especially with the ORIGINAL dust jacket. Click thumbnail to see close-ups. Solid spine.

First printing of Delos Lovelace's novelization of the classic monster story. In December of 1932, just as the film KING KONG was finishing production, Merian Cooper asked his friend Delos Lovelace to adapt the film's screenplay into a novelization. The book was published later that month, on December 27, just over two months prior to the film's premier and served as one of just two parts of its advance marketing campaign (the other being a collection of sheet music from the score). The book would go on to see numerous reprints, further bolstering Kong's status as a cultural phenomenon. Housed in the ORIGINAL dust jacket.

New York: Grosset and Dunlap, 1932. Publisher's original green cloth stamped in dark brown, photo inside front and back cover spreads with stills from the film. A good copy. Scarce and rare!
