Pre-Bash: For people coming in early for Monster Bash, Ron Adams will run rare films in the afternoon and then projectionist Geoffrey Curtis will be doing his un-announced MYSTERY MOVIES! Screening various 16mm films through the evening at various times.

9:00 AM - 16mm FILM: MONSTERS WE'VE KNOWN AND LOVED. It's our traditional opening short film. A documentary produced back in 1964. A look at the classics from the early days through the eyes of 1964. Narrated by Joseph Cotten. Introduced with a welcome to the Monster Bash by Ron Adams. 

 

10:00 AM - THE GHOST OF SIERRA DE COBRA (1964). Stars Martin Landau and MONSTER BASH Guest of Honor Diane Baker! THE OUTER LIMITS writer and producer Joseph Stefano issued this creepy horror. Originally intended to be a pilot of a TV show called THE HAUNTED, it morphed into this fear-filled feature. Martin Landau stars as a ghost hunter. He assists a blind man and his wife. The blind man believes his mother is back in their remote estate haunting them with eerie phone calls and apparitions. A rarity that is recommended!

 

12:30 PM - MOVIE: SUPERMAN AND THE MOLE MEN (1951). George Reeves and Phyllis Coates star as Superman and Lois Lane. Plus, it's MONSTER BASH guest Beverly Washburn in an early role. This film was released theatrically as SUPERMAN AND THE MOLE MEN. This is the two episodes that made up the film: UNKNOWN PEOPLE Parts 1 and 2. Underground creatures (the Mole Men) terrorize a small community....Clark Kent, and Superman, are on the case, faster than...well, you know! 16mm print courtesy of the Keven Scarpino Collection. 

 

1:30 PM - Q&A: BEVERLY WASHBURN. Iconic child actress that continued on as an adult in an amazing resume of classic films and TV. She is a treasure and Monster Bash loves her. Beverly has worked with everyone from Lon Chaney Jr., Lou Costello, George Reeves, Milton Berle, Boris Karloff, Dorothy McGuire, Fess Parker, Chuck Conners, Tommy Kirk, Alan Ladd, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy...the list just goes on and on. From OLD YELLER to SPIDER BABY, she has done it all and lived to tell. She's always happy to talk with you about her career and the stories from the sets. Pick up her book, she'll sign it for you....REEL TEARS! This Q&A moderated by John Bishop.

 

2:00 PM - MOVIE: THE BRUTE MAN (1946) introduced by TV Horror Host Mr. Lobo with Dixie! Stars Rondo Hatton and Jane Adams. The origin of Rondo Hatton's Creeper character! He's in a terrible chemical explosion and the rest is history. Out for revenge, he holes up in a hidden room beneath the docks. Coming out at night to kill. He befriends a blind girl who assists him in evading the police. 

 

3:00 PM - DEALER BALLROOM OPENS! Get the creepy cool collectibles you want before some other Monster Kid gets them!

 

3:30 PM - TALK & PRESENTATION: CARL LAEMMLE, JR. & UNIVERSAL HORROR. Julian Stone, author and historian presents the story od Carl Laemmle, Jr. -- the man that brough classic monsters to Universal Studios! Julian's book IT'S ALIVE!, is a vibrant portrait of 1930s Hollywood centered around the chaotic and exciting days just before the filming of the beloved classic film Frankenstein. 

 

4:30 PM - MOVE: THE INVISIBLE MAN (1933). James Whale directs this fantasy-horror masterpiece with Claude Rains. A man discovers invisibility; the cost - his sanity. Dark humor and great pacing make this a timeless gem.

 

6:00 PM - Q&A: JESSICA RAINS. What was it like growing up with The Invisible Man...and iconic actor from CASABLACA and so many more great, great films? Plus, Jessica also has quite an acting resume. She was in SCREAM PRETTY PEGGY, IRONSIDE with Raymond Burr, Woody Allen's SLEEPER, WONDER WOMAN, MARY HARTMAN, THE STING, CANNON and so much more. Moderated by Ron Adams. 

 

6:30 PM - THREE STOOGES THEATER with TV Horror Host SON OF GHOUL. The selections will include SPOOKS in 3-D (3-D glasses will be handed out!). Kicking off Friday evening at MONSTER BASH it's TV Horror Host Legend "Son of Ghoul." Not only does he host horror movies on TV, he is quite The Three Stooges expert. He will present three spooky, fun Stooge shorts to get you laughing your way into Friday evening at Bash! Please check your pies at the door. 

 

7:30 PM - MOVE: TOMB OF LIGEIA (1964). Stars Vincent Price and MONSTER BASH guest Elizabeth Shepherd. Vincent Price's final Poe film with director Roger Corman. A lush movie shot in England and includes real ruins. A story of the supernatural and murder.

 

8:30PM - LAST CALL FOR THE DEALER BALLROOM TODAY. Get your groovy, ghoulish goodies before the dealer room closes. Quick! Only a half hour left for shopping in the Dealer Ballroom today. If you don't get it now, you might never see that item again! The Dealer Ballroom closes at 9PM today. 

 

9:00 PM - Q&A: ELIZABETH SHEPHERD. Known for her starring role in Roger Corman's TOMB OF LIGEIA with Vincent Price! But she's done so much more. Her credits, just skimming the surface, include: TALES OF MYSTERY, SUSPENSE, MACBETH, DAMIEN: OMEN II, LOVE AND MARRIAGE, SILVER SURFER, TALES FROM THE CRYPTKEEPER, LAW & ORDER, and even more. Moderated by John Bishop.

 

9:30 PM - LIVE THEATER: ZACH ZITO: THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER with ZACH ZITO. It's amazing one man theatre as Zach Zito acts out short horror story classics....If you've never seen Zach perform...don't dare miss this...and if you have seen him before, you know to be there.

 

10:30 PM - MUSIC: THE BASH BOYS. Time to take a break from the movies and plug into The Bash Boys for some great old time rock and roll. Your favorite music from the 1960s and 1970s will fill the air in the event room. It's Bash staffers and serious monster movie fans to flash you back with the music you loved on the radio as a kid.

 

11:30 PM - MEXICAN MONSTER NIGHT: SAMSON IN THE WAX MUSEUM (1963). The Beatles were making it big on the radio, but the Saturday afternoon TV was rocking with Samson (Santo) movies. A Mexican masked super-hero wrestler stumbles onto a mad scientist whose got "master plans!" The doc runs a wax museum full figures with bad reputations. Included are the Frankenstein monster (looking a lot like Karloff) and a Mr. Hyde. Are they really just wax figures? Filmed in 1963 and released to USA TV in 1964. In English. On 16mm from the Hugh Thomas Collection. Free tacos handed out before the film, while supplies last. 

 

1:00 AM - MONSTER BASH LATE SHOW: HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959) in 3-D! Vincent Price as a millionaire who has a Halloween party! He invites people he doesn't know to spend a night in a haunted house. He awards a cash prize for anyone who can make it through. Elisha Cook Jr. as a nervous wreck is wonderful. One of director William Castle's absolute best! 3-D glasses will be passed out before the movue starts. Get there early. 

 

SATURDAY July 20, 2024

8:00 AM: SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS & CEREAL. Cartoons for kids of all ages. Plus, FREE cereal is passed out to the audience...just the way Saturday morning used to be growing up...cartoons and cereal. Presented by TV horror host SON OF GHOUL!

 

9:00 AM - MOVIE: SON OF FRANKENSTEIN (1939). Karloff in the role of the Universal Classic monster for the last time in a feature film. Lugosi shines as Ygor. Rathbone & Atwill take turns chewing the scenery. What sheer entertainment! Lush expressionistic sets and bold direction makes for a great movie. NOTE: This version has a few scenes of restored "found footage!" 

 

10:00 AM - DEALER BALLROOM OPENS! Get the creepy cool collectibles you want before some other Monster Kid gets them!

 

11:00 AM - MONSTER BASH BRAIN TWIST QUIZ with TOM WEAVER. Get ready to test your skills on classic horror and science fiction films. This rapid fire quiz show can win you great prizes. Hosted by historian and author Tom Weaver.

 

12:00 NOON - THE INVADERS: BEACHHEAD. The first episode of the TV show, THE INVADERS starring Roy Thinnes and MONSTER BASH guest Diane Baker. Pre-dating THE X-FILES by decades, this great science fiction show is maybe less fiction these days of confirmed UAP (UFO) sightings.

 

1:00 PM - LAND OF THE LOST: THE TAR PIT. A friendly dinosaur (affectionately nicknamed "Dopey" is stuck in a tar pit. Rescue plans are set in action, and Ta and Sa (Sharon Baird) are there with plans.

 

1:30 PM - Q&A SESSION: SHARON BAIRD. An original Mousketeer! It's Sharon Baird who was an iconic Disney Mouskateer and regular stock player for Sid and Marty Krofft's many kid's TV shows like H.R. PUFNSTUF, LIDSVILLE, SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS, LAND OF THE LOST. Her credits also include THE LORD OF THE RINGS, THE ADVENTURES OF CURIOUS GEORGE, RATBOY, THE NEW ZOO REVUE, DEATH VALLEY DAYS and more. Moderated by John Bishop.

 

2:00 PM - LIVE READING BY ELIZABETH SHEPHERD: Edgar Allan Poe's THE TOMB OF LIGEIA. One of Poe's very best horror short stories. Read live by actress Elizabeth Shepherd who starred in the 1964 film with Vincent Price. A precious treat for Monster Bashers. 

 

3:00PM - SHORT FILM: FRANKENSTEIN (1952). Lon Chaney, Jr. played the Frankenstein Monster again in this episode from the TALES OF TOMORROW television series. Watch for a few bloopers as the show was broadcast live.

 

3:30 PM - TALK: GREG MANK on HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. The Bash pays homage to one of the great Universal Frankenstein films on its 80th anniversary. Greg talks about the genesis and making of the film—why a movie cowboy played The Monster and Boris Karloff played the mad doctor, why John Carradine, not Lugosi, played Dracula, and why no one else but Lon Chaney could play The Wolf Man. Greg will be selling and signing copies of his books.

 

4:30 PM - MOVIE: HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1944) - 80th ANNIVERSARY. Boris is back! Boris is the mad doctor masquerading as a carnival shuckster (he had his hunchback kill George Zucco, the real carnival guy). It's a carnival of horrors with the real Count Dracula. He happens on the Frankenstein monster and The Wolf Man (Chaney) along the road to ruin! One of the most glossy 1940's horror flicks from Universal. A real monster fest!

 

6:00 PM - TALK: FRANK DELLO STRITTO on HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. The monsters, the mad doctor, and the love triangle among a gypsy, a werewolf and the deformed assistant are hard to miss, but there’s a lot more in the movie than meets the eye. Frank takes us on a tour through the shadowy catacombs of the House of Frankenstein. He will be selling and signing copies of his books.

 

6:00PM - THE DEALER BALLROOM CLOSING FOR TODAY. Get your groovy, ghoulish goodies before the dealer room closes. Quick! If you don't get it now, you might never see that item again! Dealer ballroom closes at 6PM. 

 

7:00PM - TV SHOW: NIGHT GALLERY - THEY'RE TEARING DOWN TIM REILEY'S BAR. One of the very, very best dramatic episodes on NIGHT GALLEY...or, on television in general! Driven by people at their very best: Rod Serling's writing, the acting of Diane Baker and William Windom.

 

8:00PM - Q&A: DIANE BAKER. We are honored to have actress Diane Baker here at MONSTER BASH. Her credits include JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH (with Pat Boone), MARNIE (Alfred Hitchcock directed), NIGHT GALLEY (They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar), THE INVADERS, THE FUGITIVE, William Castle's STRAIT-JACKET, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, PLAYHOUSE 90 (with Beverly Washburn), THE GHOST OF SIERRA DE COBRE (with Martin Landau), MURDER SHE WROTE, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS...we could go on and on! We welcome Diane! Moderated by Ron Adams.

 

8:30 PM - DOCUMENTARY: THE HORROR-BLE WORLD OF DANIEL ROEBUCK - THE INVISIBLE MAN. A documentary about....THE INVISIBLE MAN! Dan produced this project in 2020 along with his wife, Tammy. A wonderful piece that fits right in with two of our other guests, The Invisible Man's daughters, Jessica Rains and Victoria Price. Introduced by Daniel Roebuck, who can also take your questions!

 

9:00 PM - LET THEM EAT CAKE! The famous MONSTER BASH cake feeding frenzy. Giant, monster sized sheet cakes are served up by the MONSTER BASH staff to fans for as long as it lasts. Think ahead...chocolate or yellow cake...some hard decisions! A a nice break and the kick-off for Saturday night MONSTER BASH madness. Head for the front of the lobby!

 

9:15 PM - OUTDOOR MOVIE UNDER THE STARS: THE BLOB (1958). That red jelly ooze from outer space has arrived! A meteorite from the cosmos smacks into earth and is discovered by an old codger. He pokes it with a stick and the thing cracks open, The Blob shoots out and attaches itself to his arm -- then devours him. It grows and keeps seeking other victims. Look for the theater scene -- it features the cult classic DAUGHTER OF HORROR on the marquee in a live "Spook Show" with Bela Lugosi (who would have been dead two years when this film came out). Cool Daddy Steve McQueen and Aneta Corseaut star. Aneta went on to be Andy Griffin's girlfriend in his classic TV show. Hot rods, teenagers that look like they're in their thirties and a neat-o original monster.

 

11:00 PM - MONSTER MUSIC with Mark Statler. This lifelong MONSTER KID is not only a super fan, MONSTER BASH's guest director...but a recording artist and performer. He's opened for people like Barbara Mandrell. He, along with his songwriter/brother Theron have released a handful of CDs with monster movie themes that are near and dear to our hearts. Don't scare miss this perfomance by Mark Statler. 

 

11:30 PM - GAME SHOW: WHAT'S MY MONSTER. The interactive game show that YOU, the audience gets to drive.See if you can stump the panel of experts with your knowlege of monsters in monster movies! Hosted by Leonard Hayhurst, panel of expeerts with team captain Thom Shubilla, and the show's own "Vanna White," Paisley Jaynes. Stump the panel and you could won great prizes like books, monster magazines, Blu-Rays, DVDs and model kits.

 

12:00 MIDNIGHT BIG EVENT - THE MONSTER BASH "FESTIVAL OF THE NEW WINE Song." A Monster Bash tradition. Bob Pellegrino sings the "Festival of the New Wine" from FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN. Plus, the great free prize toss, this year featuring magazines, blu-rays, DVDs, and just plain cool Monster Kid stuff. WARNING: If you do not wish to get hit by flying free stuff, do not stay in the room for this event. Enter and stay at your own risk. We'll kick off the midnight fun with the Monster Bash Lifetime Achievement Awards too!

 

12:10 AM - LOST HORROR FILM FOUND: GO AND GET IT (1920). 

Historian Tom Weaver brings a copy of this film that was thought lost for decades and decades. This amazing find was located in Italy. Tom has translated the title cards to English and will provide live audio translation and commentary. Co-read by MONSTER BASH's Ursula Adams. This amazing early horror features a mad scientist who transplants the brain of a criminal into an ape. The ape takes on human characteristics and goes on a homicidal rampage. Sounds a bit like FRANKENSTEIN, doesn't it? Or, even more like THE MONSTER AND THE GIRL (1941)! The ape monster is played by Bull Montana, who five years later would play an ape man in THE LOST WORLD.  Be one of the few film fans to actually see this ultra rare film! Late Saturday night at MONSTER BASH! 

 

2:00 AM MONSTER BASH REALLY, REALLY LATE SHOW. A short movie by renegade filmmaker David "The Rock" Nelson! He's wild, he's wacky, he really makes monster movies....He's "The Rock." David will introduce his short movie. You can never be prepared for this.

8:00 AM - MONSTER BASH CHURCH SERVICE . Father Mike Paraniuk will give the service at Monster Bash. All denominations are welcome. Father Mike is a priest from Ohio. Attendees don't have to go out looking for a church. We do it here with all your friends and Monster Bash family. Music by Steven Thornton, John Sargent and Ursula Adams.

 

9:00 AM - SUNDAY MORNING FILM SHORTS. Three short films of the Little Rascals (Our Gang) canon. Presented by -- Ohio TV Horror Host and fellow Monster Kid brother -- Son of Ghoul. 

 

10:00 AM - LIVE GAME SHOW: MONSTER MATCH GAME (1945). Remember the old MATCH GAME TV show? Well now it's done with classic monster movies! Your hosts are Leonard Hayhurst and Thom Shubilla. You could participate and win prizes! Don't miss the fun! This show is back inside the event room.

 

11:00 AM - DOCUMENTARY: MONSTER MANIACS! A documentary about....all us Monster Kids! Our crazed generation of monster movie fans wrapped into this great documentary by Danie Roebuck. Introduced by Dan, who can also take your questions!

 

12:00 NOON - PRICELESS MEMORIES with VICTORIA PRICE! Introduced by Bob Pellegrino. Victoria Price gives a heartfelt look at the life of her father and his work. It's from the perspective that only a daughter could give. Her talks are informative, introspective, and sincerely inspirational. A MONSTER BASH must. 

 

1:30 PM - SHORT MOVIE TRILOGY: FRANKENSWINE. MONSTER BASH super fan, Brian Nichols made a series of endearing, humorous short Monster Kid films about a farm animal...revived from the dead! Hilarious, fun, and cool! Three short films were made with Brian (as The Mad Doctor) and his daughters. You'll love it! 

 

2:30 PM - RARE MOVIE: CALTIKI - THE IMMORTAL MONSTER (1959). Mario Bava's (Cinematographer) blob-monster movie. Weird cosmic forces at work near a Mayan temple...a monster is the result. Evil from an ancient civilization is unleashed. A man is transformed into an insane killer and an insatiable blob-like creature eats human flesh and grows gigantic. Eerie atmosphere and great scenes. 16mm film courtesy of the Hugh Thomas Collection. 

 

4:00 PM - MOVIE, SELDOM SEEN CREEPER: DARK INTRUDER (1965). Stars Leslie Nielsen, Judi Meredith and Mark Richman. A touch of H.P. Lovecraft as an ancient creature from another time is committing murders in San Francisco during the 1890s. Foggy and atmospheric as the dark cloaked creature kills again and again. Nielsen is a student of old dark religions, assisting the local authorities...and getting too close to the truth. Originally made for TV, then released theatrically.

This scarce, we believe only a couple still in existence, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1925) pressbook will be available for sale at MONSTER BASH in July 2024. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1925) - Original 1925 Pressbook
This amazing museum piece will be on sale, in person for your examination, at MONSTER BASH CONFERENCE July 2024. There are very few surviving copies of this pressbook from 1925. Original pressbook printed on newsprint and now in a protective acrylic sleeve book. Normal chips and tears. Many pages! NOTE: It is missing one page.
