PHANTOM OF PARIS, THE (1931) - DVD

Stars John Gilbert, Lewis Stone, Jean Hersholt, Ian Keith, Leila Hyams and C. Aubrey Smith. This was adapted from a Gaston Leroux novel (Leroux known for PHANTOM OF THE OPERA) and was to have starred Lon Chaney. But Chaney had passed and the lead went to John Gilbert. Gilbert is an escape artist and magician, falsely accused of murdering his lovers father. He escapes prison and lurks in the shadows of Paris in a plot to clear himself.
