Director William Castle's final film. Shanks is the name of a down-trodden deaf-mute puppeteer who gets a job as a mad genius's assistant! The scientist has discovered a way to animate corpses using electrodes at various nerve centers. The mad doc dies and Shanks is left to his own devices, controlling corpses through the doctor's methods and using his abilities as a puppeteer. One of the strangest films, not only by William Castle, but by anyone. Is it a comedy, horror, art film....or something else? Very, very odd. A cinema curiosity.
