THING, THE (1951/Nostalgia Merchant) - Used VHS

Stars Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan and James Arness. A military crew and a doctor head to investigate a downed UFO buried in ice. They retrieve an alien in a block of ice. By accident the "Thing" thaws and begins to kill off the expedition members. That's the plot in a nutshell, but the direction, acting, writing and suspense are top flight. Probably one of the best science fiction horrors EVER put on film. Tobey and the cast are likable, real and scared. This Howard Hawks film soars with a sense of claustrophobia and class.
